About
As we head into the new millennium, it is becoming clear that environmental issues are now being taken more seriously and that recycling is the way forward to help reduce the amount of waste that we send to land fills every year.
In 2004, according to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, the United Kingdom produced about 335 million tonnes of waste; which means that every hour we throw away enough to fill the Royal Albert Hall.
With these figures in mind, and the ever growing population in this country - how can we sustain landfills and protect our environment?
We are already recycling plastics, paper, tin cans, glass and other household items which is great to see, but what about the other things we throw away?
Things like hairdryers because we had a new one given to us for Christmas, or children’s toys that are still usable but might be a bit scratched - these things usually end up in a council tip - and then in a landfill site.
The aim of this site is to reduce this by allowing people to post their items online for free, so that other people who might want them - can have them for free.
